Products

As a small farm, raising a select group of livestock, most of my products are available solely via deposit due to demand. I do on ocassion have some items available for pickup. Please see the below information for everything currently available (and available for ordering).

Pork · Lamb · Mutton · Wool

Pork

Every spring I accept deposits on sides of pork and then raise the weaner pigs on pasture between late June and late October / November. Typicaly I raise Landrace Yorkshire (pinky) pigs due to their agreeable temperment and fast growth.

Housed outside in a quarter acre pen, the pigs have a diet nutriotnally balanced pig feed with a healthy helping of treats in the form of dehydrated apples while younger. As they age and fall aproaches they see apples and pumpkins added to their diet. The resulting meat is quite lean and results in a slightly sweet pork.

Lamb

Every spring I accept deposits on sides of lamb depending on how many lambs arrive from the fall breeding.

Kept with their mothers throughout the sping, summer, and fall, the lambs receive additional nuitrition from lamb grower feed during their formative months but are otherwise out on pasture throughout the warmer months.

The lambs are a collection of North Country Cheviot or NCC / Shetland cross – a fast growing combination that makes for a stout fall lamb without being overly large.

Mutton

Although not available on any regular schedule, ocassionally I will have a ewe that has aged out, is a poor mother, or is otherwise a poor fit on the farm.

Haveing been pasture raised, fed hay, and supplemented with grain and minerals, they make for excellent mutton and are typically processed for stew meat or ground.

Wool

Every Spring and Fall a portion of my mixed flock is shorn for hygine and comfort. In the spring I have a selection of shorter fibre (North Country Cheviot sheep) wool, ideal for use in comforters or pillows, while in the fall I have a selection of longer fibre wool (from Icelandic and Shetland sheep), suitable for spinning.

Given the range of colors, fibre length, and condition, most of wool is sold to crafters (especially felters) or gardners who with to use it to help enrich dense clay heavy soil or as a slug proof mulch in their beds.

  •  $9.00 / fleece, bagged (varies but is generally 5-7 lbs of wool per bag)
