Open Farm Day 2022
Sept 18, Noon – 3pm
Open Farm Day 2022
Sunday, September 18 from Noon to 3pm
This year’s Open farm Day will be the first one held in-person since 2019 – and the first in-person since I relocated to my new home in Ashdale, just South of Antigonish.
As the new farm is still very much a work in progress, a great deal remains to be done and things will be a bit more roughshod than other years. Despite this I do hope any guests who stop by during Open Farm Day enjoy their visit and leave with a smile on their face and pleasant memories of the day.
We would ask that anyone showing flu-like symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID exercise common-sense and not attend this year’s in person for event for the safety of others. Anyone evidencing flu-like symptoms will be be politely asked to leave the premises immediately.
What to Expect
Just as in other years, I will have my own animals as well as a seclection of child-friendly critters on hand for folks to enjoy, to interact with, and hopefully come away having a learned a little bit more about them.
The below is a tentative list and is subject to change. It will be kept as up to date as possible:
Animals:
- Nigerian Dwarf Goats
- Miniature Horses
- Cornish Cross Chickens
- Landrace / Yorkshire Cross Pigs
- Guinea Pigs
- Miniature Donkeys
Advice:
Individuals will be on hand who will happily answer any animal husbandry questions you might have about the above as well as the 4-H Program in the neighboring communities.
